FAQs

Do you service businesses?

Yes of course! We have several clients in the small to medium-sized businesses range, & support all of their technology needs. If your small business is looking for a goto IT crew, we are ready and excited to hop on board!

Do you make house calls?

We can dispatch our "computer medics" to your home or business to fix any problems you may have. We just request you schedule an appointment as far in advance as possible. We do also offer emergency / after-hours support if you need it!

How long will it take to repair my computer?

Repair times can depend on a number of variables, including warranty status, the workload at the time of drop-off, the time it may take to diagnose, the time it takes for a part to ship, and whether the part is on backorder. Typically hardware repairs take 2 to 5 business days. Upgrades such as memory or hard drive installations can often be done within the same day.

Will I need to drop off anything besides the computer?

Usually, no. Most of the time we have the necessary cables & accessories to get a machine up and running. Laptop computers are an exception to this rule; if you are bringing in your laptop for repair, please bring along the AC adapter or power cord for the machine, as I may not have the right cables for your specific model.

How long is the warranty on a repair?

Service parts have a warranty of 90 days, and I warranty the work and parts for that period of time.

Will I still be charged for a repair part even if it doesn’t resolve my problem?

During the repair of your computer, if the repair part that we recommend doesn’t resolve your issue, you will not be charged for that part. You are only charged for the part or parts that restore your computer back to working order.

I purchased my computer used and I don’t have any of the original software or drivers available. Can you still help me?

Yes. Typically I will be able to restore your original applications, data and serial numbers without having the original software CD’s or manuals.

Can a virus damage computer hardware?

No. Computer viruses are software code designed to spread to computer files and other computers, delete files, and cause other problems with the data on the computer. So if you're experiencing an issue with a hardware device such as your printer, video card, sound card, etc. it is not due to a virus.

Aren't expensive antivirus programs like Norton and McAfee better than the freebies?

No. Don't believe their hype.

Companies like McAfee would convince you that in order to be "safe", you need to install their suite of ten different programs, including antivirus, antispyware, antispam, antiscam, "SiteAdvisor", et cetera. All that junk is going to slow your computer noticeably, I can almost guarantee it. These security software companies will convince you that Internet cookies are evil incarnate and can eat your brain. Don't let them scare you into spending your money on their bloatware.

I'm not exactly sure what is wrong with my computer, can you still help me if I can't explain the issue?

Sure! Once we schedule an appointment, we can set it up and go over all of the issues we can see with you there. This way you can describe the problems you are having with the computer in the best way possible.
